BEN has received funding from the Big Lottery's Local Food Programme for a 2 year long project called Local Food Global Food. The project will operate across England in partnership with the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens (FCFCG) to explore ways of linking BME communities with local food growing opportunities and organisations. The programme will provide support and train to staff and volunteers to reach out and engage effectively with BME groups using healthy heating, cultural celebration and the sharing of knowledge and skills as the main areas of focus.
We are currently looking for a Project Co-ordinator to work as part of the team to deliver Local Food Global Food.
Project Co-ordinator (based in Manchester, Birmingham or Coventry)
Salary: £24,581 - £26,137 (depending on experience)

Black Environment Network (BEN) and the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens (FCFCG) are looking to appoint a fte Project Co-ordinator as part of their Local Food Global Food Project, funded by Big Lottery’s Local Food Programme. Their role will be to help deliver the Local Food / Global Food partnership programme by:
Co-ordinating the provision of specialist practical support and networking to BME community food growing and food related projects, including promoting good practice. Liaising with BME community groups and local community food related projects in order to identify barriers and help increase participation. Building knowledge of cultural food diversity at community level, and with external bodies and partners. The successful candidate will have experience of working with ethnic minority communities and mainstream organisations, providing information, advice and support to enable project development, organising events and activities, and the ability to think and work within the parameters of the project to deliver effective, innovative and progressive work.
